Karla was born Mexican American, in Wheatridge, Colorado. As a child she was introverted and spent an inordinate amount of time reading compared to others her age. Her favorite activity was going to the book mobile with her best friend. She can still remember the excitement she felt searching for stories to transcend her from her humble suburban life. Along her journey in life, she has traveled to other countries, and is raising two beautiful children that are the inspirations for the stories she tells.  She currently lives and writes in Lincoln, Nebraska.
